Videogamedunkey (Yes, That Dunkey) Is Starting an Indie Publishing Company Called Bigmode
This is undoubtedly an unexpected announcement from YouTuber Videogamedunkey.
In a very surprising announcement, YouTuber Videogamedunkey is entering the video game publishing world with a new studio called Bigmode. Videogamedunkey is popular for both meme videos and video game articles, so delving into publishing is certainly huge.
Within two hours of the live video of this announcement, it had amassed 457,000 views and counting.
You can see the exact video below, and promise in full sincerity that it’s not entirely stupid.
Bigmode’s website has a good overview of what the publisher is all about:
Bigmode is a purposeful and passionate independent publishing company founded in 2022 by Videogamedunkey (aka Jason) and his wife Leah.
Supporting games with substance, quality, creativity and fun at their core is very important to us! The world of indie games can feel crowded or oversaturated, so our goal is to give great games a powerful way to stand out.
We love and care deeply about games, and artists and creatives in general. Bigmode is our way of nurturing and supporting people who put in the effort and love in their projects to create the best they can create – giving them the spotlight they deserve and seeing more of what we love in games .
The Bigmode website also provides more information and sets some clear boundaries on what is accepted. Given the huge controversy in the industry right now, the section on what new publishers might be looking for mentions “Please note: we do not accept any games that use NFTs, crypto or blockchain.”
Today was filled with another massive YouTube-related announcement. Soon, YouTube will allow content creators to monetize videos that license music. Likewise, Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai launched his own YouTube channel late last month.
