Resident Evil Village Scrapped Chris Redfield DLC To Focus On Shadows Of Rose

Capcom has decided to drop the Resident Evil Village DLC focused on Chris Redfield in order to focus more on the upcoming Shadow of the Rose.
The information comes from well-known Resident Evil leaker AestheticGamer (also known as Dusk Golem), who brings key snippets from several Japanese interviews to twitter threadAccording to his translation, Capcom originally planned a DLC chapter featuring Chris Redfield, which sounded quite similar to Resident Evil 7 Not a Hero. However, the idea was later shelved, as the new team initially decided to invest more time and money in Shadow of the Rose to create a “richer” ending.
The scrapped Chris DLC will see the character go “a little crazy” because of his internal pressure and guilt in front of Ethan and Mia. It looks like Redfield should act like Dead Space’s Isaac Clark, who constantly feels the burden of being responsible to his girlfriend and seeing things that don’t exist. Perhaps, this canceled village chapter is less action-oriented than non-heroes, offering little other than intense gunfights.
During development, the psychedelic Shadow of the Rose was too compelling for the team, and they wanted to put all their resources into it. This has resulted in a significant increase in the size of the DLC, offering about four hours of content, almost half the size of the base game. It was known before that Shadow of the Rose will see players return to Dimitrezcu Castle, but you can expect more locations than just the vampire fort. With Shadow of the Rose, Capcom aims to offer a different style of horror for a series described as “Nightmare Frenzy Dreams,” with an emphasis on survival and bizarre imagery.
As far as we know, Shadow of the Rose will provide a fitting ending to the entire Winters saga, which means we probably won’t see Ethan, Mia, or Rosemary in future RE games. It’s unclear what’s next for the series after Resident Evil 4 Remake, but we might still get some hints at this October’s scheduled Resident Evil showcase. Capcom has promised “on the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, Resident Evil 4 and more. “
