China says U.S. should correct abuse of security review

BEIJING, Sept 22 (Reuters) – China’s Commerce Ministry said on Thursday the United States should correct abusive security reviews after U.S. President Joe Biden directed foreign investment panels to scrutinize deals for data and cyber risks.

Biden last week directed the National Security Risk Council, which reviews foreign investment, to increase its focus on threats to sensitive data, cybersecurity and areas such as microelectronics and artificial intelligence.
