6.8-magnitude earthquake strikes Mexico, killing one


A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck southwest Mexico early Thursday, killing at least one person just days after another deadly quake struck.

Like Monday’s stronger quake, the quake was concentrated in Michoacan.it is It was detected at a depth of 12.4 miles around 1:16 a.m. (2:16 a.m. ET), according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Officials in the capital Mexico City have confirmed that a woman fell to her death at her home in the Colonia doctor’s district. Tremors could be felt in the city, setting off alarms and prompting many to evacuate their homes, Reuters reported.

The September 19, 1985 earthquake killed thousands, while another earthquake on the same day in 2017 killed more than 350 people.

Monday’s earthquake damaged many buildings in Mexico City, causing power outages in parts of the capital and killing at least two people.
