Mark Zuckerberg is about to become a dad for the third time.
The Meta CEO announced Wednesday that he and his wife Priscilla Chan are expecting their third child, a girl.
“Lots of love,” Zuckerberg instagram post, Accompanying Chen and his selfie. “It’s a pleasure to share that Max and August will have a new little sister next year!”
Zuckerberg and Chen, college sweethearts, wed in 2012 — a day after Facebook’s IPO. Facebook will change its company name to Meta in 2021.
Their eldest daughter Max (short for Maxima) was born in 2015, and on the day the couple announced her birth, they also unveiled their charitable fund, The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. The fund, backed by Zuckerberg’s Meta wealth, aims to cure the world’s ailments during their daughter’s lifetime.
The couple’s second daughter, August, was born in 2017. Before she was born, Zuckerberg said he would take two months of paternity leave. (Meta offers four months of vacation to all new parents.)
Zuckerberg, who used to be one of the richest people in the world, has taken a hit to his net worth this year. Although he started 2022 with a fortune of $125 billion, his fortune has plummeted by $70 billion, or about 55 percent, after Facebook changed its name to Meta and the company’s user numbers fell for the first time this year.
