Logitech Announces The New Astro A30 Wireless Gaming Headset

Gaming is probably one of the most popular pastimes in the world, and almost every week another piece of technology hits the market with the promise that it will give you the competitive edge you need to win. In an age where gamers use portable gaming platforms like PCs, consoles, and the Nintendo Switch, having leading edge technology is critical. Logitech’s new Astro A30 headphones are designed to work with all of these devices.

The latest in gaming technology combines style and functionality in a versatile headset for PlayStation or Xbox flavors. The Astro A30 is designed for all platforms and even offers customizable speaker labels, just like the popular A40 model. Gamers can use the Logitech G mobile app to customize controls and connect up to three devices so they can create the ideal gaming experience on all platforms.

The Astro A30 combines Logitech’s reputation for comfort and flexibility with the latest gaming performance features, including optimizations for simultaneous multi-device connectivity and custom mixing. Astro A30 is available for PlayStation4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, XB series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC, macOS, iOS and Android.

With Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED wireless technology, the A30 connects quickly and reliably. Both the PlayStation and Xbox versions come with their own LIGHTSPEED USB dongle. For games played on both consoles, Logitech sells specific LIGHTSPEED dongles, as well as spare ear pads, detachable microphones and cables.

The speakers used in the A30 are 40mm dynamic drivers that deliver loud sound with plenty of clarity. On-ear joystick controls enable gamers to mute, mix, adjust volume, play, pause, and more. Customize your audio and gaming experience on the go with the Logitech G Mobile app for iOS and Android.

Use multiple devices simultaneously with the professional-grade LIGHTSPEED wireless 2.4 GHz dongle, which can connect to PC, Mac, PlayStation4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, XB Series X|S. There’s built-in Bluetooth for portable gaming devices, and an old-school 3.5mm aux cable for everything else.

Gamers can choose to use the Astro 30’s detachable boom microphone or built-in version. Both mics have a sidetone, and level settings can be applied to both mics. Each mic delivers crystal-clear sound, the cantilever provides maximum focus, and the built-in mic makes the headset look sleeker.

A single charge of the headset provides more than 27 hours of battery life wirelessly used on all platforms, providing at least a few days of gaming. When it’s time to recharge, the USB-C charging port will keep the Astro 30 fully charged in no time. Thanks to the built-in accelerometer, the A30 earphones turn themselves off after 30 minutes without detecting any movement. This amount of time can be adjusted using the Logitech G mobile app.

In addition to being a wireless headset, the A30 can also work as a wired model, even when the internal battery is completely drained. Just connect an external boom mic and plug the headset into any device that has a 3.5mm port and the game can still go on.

The Astro 30 will ship on October 4th and will be available in white and navy. Gamers can also personalize their headsets with replaceable custom speaker labels that fit the same as those used on the Logitech A40 headset. There is also a selection of labels available for purchase, or users can create custom designs with personal graphics.

The Astro A30 has swivel-mounted earcups so the headset can lay flat when worn around the neck or stored in the included hard carrying case. The design is intended to be displayed in public, during streaming, or as part of a battle station.

Verdict: The Logitech Astro A30 Wireless Gaming Headset offers all the connectivity options and features a gamer could want. The choice of two microphones is convenient, and the sound quality from the 40mm drivers is great, even when listening to high-res music. With the Astro A30, Logitech has created a versatile wireless headset that gives gamers a head start.
