How ‘Andor’ Is Reviewing Compared To Other Disney Plus ‘Star Wars’ Shows

Andor is live on Disney Plus today, with the first three episodes available to watch, and this is the fourth live-action Disney Plus series that more and more people continue to roll out over time.

It feels like Andor is one of the most unusual projects planned, taking a character from Rogue One and giving them their own series, separate from seemingly all other existing series, but grounded in “Birth of a Rebellion” Nature seems to have won early fans tired of massive CGI and buried Easter eggs and crossovers.

Andorra is good review So far, now the critics’ comments have come in. How it stacks up compared to other Disney Plus series we’ve seen so far in the Star Wars universe:

  • The Clone Wars Season 7 – 100%
  • Star Wars: Illusions – 96%
  • The Mandalorian Season 1 – 93%
  • The Mandalorian Season 2 – 93%
  • Andorra – 87%
  • Bad Lot – 86%
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi – 82%
  • The Book of Boba Fett – 66%

So, as you can see, I’ve included animated series, and they’re generally well-received. But in terms of reality TV, Andor is second only to two seasons of The Mandalorian and ahead of recent Obi-Wan and Boba Fett shows.

I know a lot of people will be looking for audience ratings, but it’s too early (only 36 have ratings on Rotten Tomatoes) and I’ll have to wait and see if that number stabilizes over time. It’s 76% now, it was 69% when I started writing this, but I guess that’s going to change in one direction or the other.

Andor is a full-blown TV series, not a movie that’s been split into episodes, the show is supposed to run 12 episodes here in the first season, with an eye toward the second season, once it hits the events of Rogue One will end.

So, Amdo’s fate may be pre-determined, but I do wonder what lessons can be learned from Star Wars if its more down-to-earth approach pays off, with less reliance on CG and darker tones than other shows ,and many more. . We already know a whole bunch of upcoming series, but Andorra’s success, or I guess theoretical failure, could change their plans. Given that Rogue One is my new favorite Star Wars blockbuster, I’m certainly looking forward to seeing it again later today.
