Christopher Pike’s Midnight Club is coming to Netflix, directed by contemporary horror guru Mike Flanagan. The series takes place at Blackcliffe Hospice, a care centre for terminally ill teens who live on their own. Elonka (Iman Benson of Netflix’s #BlackAF) is a young girl who finds out she has thyroid cancer and has a very small chance of surviving. As she joins Blackcliffe’s ranks, she soon learns that hospice has its own unique history.
Every night at midnight, eight teenage residents of Blackcliffe sneak into the library and tell each other ghost stories — what they call “ghost-making”, in hopes of finding signs of life after death. They call themselves the Midnight Club.
One night they made an agreement that the first person to die of their disease was responsible for communicating with others outside the grave. After one of them died, strange things started. You can check out the first trailer below.
Benson, Adia (Cheri), Igby Rigney (Kevin), Annarah Cymone (Sandra), Aya Furukawa (Natsuki), Ruth Codd (Anya), Sauriyan Sapkota (Amesh) and Chris Sumpter (Spencer) play the eight members of the club. Fans We might remember Rigney and Cymone from Midnight Mass before, along with other familiar faces from Flanagan and Macy’s past productions. Haunting alumni and Midnight Mass alumni Rahul Kohli, Zach Gilford and Samantha Sloyan will play small roles in the series.
The 10-episode series will premiere on Netflix on October 7, but will have its world premiere at this year’s New York Comic-Con the day before.
